Solar Eclipse, Haibun

This week, Frank J. Tassone asks us to write the haikai poem of our choice (haiku, senryu, tanka, kyoka, haibun, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to a total solar eclipse (Kaiki nisshoku).

This haibun will also work for #TankaTuesday, where we’re in the Clear & Bright Season: (April 4 – 18) Seimei 清明.

As always, Frank asks:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. Ping back by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

The windows are all in! I’ve been cleaning for days it seems. I’m worn out but hope to get some rest soon. The eclipse energy has me firmly within it’s grips right now! 💜

Thanks for sharing! 🌸💖🌸

Great prompt, Colleen. It’s an exciting time, even though Arizona will not have the full eclipse.

Lovely poem, and wise words! It’s overcast here. Missing the eclipse, but I never complain about rain. 🙂

    1. Me too, Lisa! We all need to face reality at this point. Can you imagine what the ancient people thought? I looked up the mythology. Many people thought a dragon ate the sun! ☀️

  10. A wonderful poem for the eclipse, Colleen. How can we, as creatures of this world, not be subject to the movement of the sun and moon. You captured this sacred, magical time!
