In the last year, I’ve been studying the Paranormal Cozy Mystery genre. I stumbled across this author and fell in love with her characters and her stories. I think you will too!

Introduction to the Series (books 1-4):

“Say hello to Mira Michaels, the sister who’s always in the shadow of her psychic sibling. If she had a dollar for every time her sister said, “I told you so,” she’d be richer than a Kardashian.

Mira’s ex was a total bum, and even her cat, Arnold, knew it. But did Mira listen to the feline fortune-teller? Absolutely not. And surprise, surprise, her ex-boyfriend disappeared with her bank account balance and her self-esteem.

But Mira’s not one to cry over spilt milk – or stolen cash. After a year of soul-searching, she’s ready to start a new life in a creaky old house with her grumpy cat and more mysteries than a Scooby-Doo marathon.

Mira’s determined to solve them all and prove herself as a master sleuth – no smug sister or hot detective needed. Thankfully, Pleasant Pond is packed with helpful locals who’ll lend a hand – or an ear – whenever Mira needs it.”

Cats and Catnapping: A Mira Michaels Mystery (Mira Michaels Cozy Mysteries Book 1)

My Recommendation:

In the first novella of the series, meet Mira and her talking cat, Arnold, as they load up the car and head out for new adventures. Mira’s sick of her psychic sister meddling in her life. She’s had it!

On their way to Pennsylvania, Arnold meets a cat who he swears is his soulmate. The cat was catnapped, and Mira has to figure out why the cat was taken. Plus, she has to reach her new house, far away from her meddling sister!

This is a cute, lighthearted novella, and is a perfect fit for the cozy mystery genre.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Keys and Catastrophes: A Mira Michaels Mystery (Mira Michaels Cozy Mysteries Book 2)

My Recommendation:

In the second book of the series, Mira heads toward the house she bought in Pleasant Pond, Pennsylvania. She hopes to flip the house quickly and move on.

But before she gets the keys from the real estate agent, she stops into the local diner, Soup & Scoop, for some dinner. There she meets the owner, Aerie, who happens to have a hunky brother, named Jay.

The two women become fast friends, which is good because Mira will need all the friends she can get!

When Mira finally gets to her house, she discovers the real estate agent’s dead body! Is Mira a target?

Now, Mira must solve the murder. Thank goodness, she has help from Aerie, and her talking cat Arnold.

What about her house? Is there a resident ghost on the premises?

This was a quick read, and I finished the book in one night. The plot thickens! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pranks and Poison: A Mira Michaels Mystery (Mira Michaels Cozy Mysteries Book 3)

My Recommendation:

This third book had me hooked from the start! Mira takes a job in the diner to make some cash to fix up the house. But not long after she starts, a customer is poisoned after eating Mira’s mushroom soup!

The Soup & Scoop is shut down pending the investigation. Mira refuses to let Aerie’s business, tank. She feels responsible, but also knows she didn’t use bad ingredients in her soup… or did she?

Mira gets herself in trouble as she investigates various angles of the crime. She clashes with Dan Lockhart, the local police detective assigned to the case. Dan wants her arrested for obstruction! Sitting in jail won’t solve this mystery!

If Mira makes it out of this one, she’ll be lucky! Even Arnold wants her to ask her sister for some psychic help!

I am fully into the characters by the third book. I can’t wait to see what happens next. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Construction and Calamity: A Mira Michaels Mystery (Mira Michaels Cozy Mysteries Book 4)

My Recommendation:

Aerie’s new boyfriend, Sam, the owner of the Pizza Pub, is charged with a crime at the construction site for the new theater. After everything Aerie has done for Mira, she decides to help her friend figure out who really committed the crime.

There are quite a few good twists and turns in this book, and Mira does everything she can to avoid Detective Lockwood.

Mira continues to struggle with the vet bills due to Arnold’s impending fatherhood!

The characters feel real to me now, and I’m enjoying the messes Mira gets herself into. This is another fun story with a surprise ending. Mira’s impulsivity will have you chuckling, as she tries to prove she doesn’t need her sister telling her how to live. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    1. I enjoy this genre so much. I’m having fun writing my own series right now. What could be more fun than three triplets who inherit their aunt’s tea shop and Michigan lavender farm? This author teaches a class on writing cozy mysteries, too. Great fun!

    1. Thanks so much, Diana. I really enjoy these quick little reads. The characters are always fun and the animals are a hoot! (This author teaches a class on writing cozy mysteries. I bought her book: How to Write a Cozy Mystery by Natasha C. Sass, and bought the workbook. I’m using this information to plot and write my cozy).

    1. I loved these books! I devour series… if the author is good, that is. I’m on KU so that also helps. These are novella length reads. That’s what I’m working on now, too.
