April rain showers
strong north winds recall winter
white pear blossom
snow

The photos of the pear trees are from last weekend. We had rain yesterday, and today, the north winds are blowing the petals off the tree! It looks like snow falling. The cats were mesmerized for hours.

I finally figured out how to have a light background on my blogs. You have to go into the editor and select semi-bold for the text. That way it shows up and is readable. I used an off-white background as well to help with eye strain.

Happy Friday! 🌸

  1. I had to leave you with a special Haiku that I am experiencing now, Colleen:

    Cherry blossoms bloom,
    Allergies fill the air,
    Spring’s beauty, with sneezes.

    Love your photo!!!

    1. I’m sorry, Rebecca–but that made me laugh.😊 So far, it doesn’t seem to bad to me here.

      1. I was taking photos of cherry blossoms falling from the trees. I should have known better, but I couldn’t resist the call of the falling blossom!!! Sneeze, Sneeze!! LOL!

        1. Hahaha. Oh well, I’m sure you got great photos–and you just go home and shower that pollen off of you! 😊

    2. This is a perfect senryu, Rebecca. There’s just a hint of irony in this poem. Our pollen counts are so high right now. We’re all sneezing! LOL!

        1. Yes, we are in autumn. We had a cold patch with heavy rain but now it is hot again. Trees are turning red 🍁🍂

  2. A lovely haiku, Colleen. We have petals from all sorts of flowering trees on the ground–but I’m surprised by how many trees are still flowering.

  6. Beautiful haiku and the photos are lovely, Colleen. Yesterday, our high temp was 86F and today the high is going to be 55F. Good grief!

    New theme? I like it.

Tenku was giving me problems and I got tired of trying to fix it. I found a new theme that looks like a classic theme but it is an FSE theme. So far, it is functioning well. Whew!

    1. I’m back on Outland for both blogs. Many folks had a hard time with dark background, so I lightened it up. If you go in and make the fonts semi bold everyone can read them easily on the light background. There is so much white space on these themes. Very frustrating. What theme are you using? It looks great. 💖

      1. That’s a great idea about the fonts. Somehow, your themes look different and I like the way way they look. I agree about too much white space in the FSE themes.
I am using Bedrock and it is an FSE theme. It looks a lot like the Weaver theme which I can’t use because it is slow loading. Thus far, Bedrock is working great.💖

        1. It looks great, Eugi. I had to go into the fonts and set them to semi-bold to make them readable. Once I did that, it all became readable. For whatever reason, I have to go in and highlight many of the links. They don’t change color like they should. WP will never stop changing the blocks and the platform. It’s very frustrating. The CSS and menu portions under Appearance in the dashboard have disappeared. I still have the CSS choice on my Tanka Tuesday (CreatorPlan). The Explorer Plan continues to LOSE more options. 🩷

          1. Oh, the links and not changing colors drive me crazy! I found that going into Styles, and scroll down to Blocks, you can change the colors of any segment such as tables, titles, links, etc. Most of the time it works. It is a never ending saga, IMO.

That’s bad news about the Explorer plan! I was considering a switch back to the Explorer plan in October but I probably will stay with the Creator plan.💖

            1. I’m definitely going back to the Explorer plan. It’s way too expensive for me. LOL! But, you can go into the styles and set a hover color too, so that helps. 💖

              1. Yes, the hover color setting is great. I’ll weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the plans once I get closer to renewal time. 💖

                1. There are no advantages to the creator plan compared to the explorer plan. Not that I have found. 💟 It’s not like it used to be.

                  1. I agree! Now that I have a WordPress.com theme, I see no reason for me to keep the Creator plan. When I had the Creator plan before, it seems it had a lot more to offer.
